What do you mean by CSCS/CPCS card?

Within the UK construction industry, the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) is the renowned skills certification scheme. Holding a CSCS card provides employers with proof that you have achieved the necessary qualification for the nature of jobs you perform on-site.

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme is the CPCS card, and it is more in-depth than the CSCS card scheme. This is for those who work in construction with plant machinery, and it is there to confirm someone’s expertise before they really step on the construction site, just like the CSCS card.

What are the modifications to the CSCS/CPCS card?

All employers, contractors and major site operators may require a valid CSCS / CPCS card relevant to their occupation and appropriate to their qualifications for all on-site jobs.

The green Labourer CSCS Card can no longer be used by skilled practitioners and on-site management.

Entry to the site may be denied without the correct card.

It may be compulsory to apply in an NVQ course specific to your field of work to get or renew a suitable CSCS / CPCS card.

Also, you can register for a red ‘experienced worker’ CSCS card* while working on the certification once you are enrolled in your NVQ. It will provide you with on-site access during your NVQ process. You will be eligible to apply for a card suitable for your profession upon completion.

The CSCS card for experienced employees is valid for 1 year and is non-renewable.
